The School of Midwifery Masuba, Makeni is a campus of the National School of Midwifery in Freetown. However it is managed as an autonomous unit with an independent board. The school was established in 2010 with the aim to reduce maternal and infant mortality. The SoMM trains State Enrolled Community Health Nurses (SECHN) as midwives.
The board is compromised of representatives from different stakeholders. The National Nurses and Midwives Board for Sierra Leone has overall mandate for policy and quality control.
